Corvallis Beer Week 2014....Now a Full 9 Days!!!

Hello Corvallis Beer Week fans,

We are starting the planning process for Corvallis Beer Week 2014 and are getting excited! Due to interest from sponsors and patrons we have decided to make CBW2014 a full nine days from Friday, September 5th through Saturday, September 13th.

We'll have everything from Beer Dinners, Brewfests, Bike Rides, Educational Seminars, Bottle Releases and more.  Many of your favorites events from years past will be back including some fun new additions.

So...save the dates, 9/5-9/13, ask for the week of work, let your friends know, stay tuned and we'll see you out on the Corvallis Craft Beer Trail!

WOW!!!!  Yesterday was amazing.  Weather was great and the beers were delicious.  Check out today's events and soak up the last day of Corvallis Beer Week 2013.  We will have an SUV shuttle running from 5th Street Growlers to the Eastgate Beer Cider MeadFest at Nectar Creek, Mazama Brewing and 2 Towns Ciderhouse to get you home safe if needed.

#37 / 12-5PM - Eastgate Beer Cider & MeadFest @ Mazama Brewing, Nectar Creek Honeywine  & 2 Towns Ciderhouse

Spend the afternoon just east of town at the Eastgate Business Complex for the Eastgate Beer Cider & Meadfest!  Mazama Brewing, Nectar Creek Honeywine and Mazama Brewing and teaming up with a trio of killer events all within walking distance of each.  Get tours, tastings, snag limited bottles, and meet those cool ass people who run and work at the great spots.  There will be a shuttle from downtown Corvallis beginning at 1PM at 5th Street Growlers and making continuous loops throughout the afternoon to Eastgate Business Complex.  Family friendly fun for all.  Please enjoy responsibly.

Head on down to Corvallis' newest Growler Fill spot, Beer:30, and join Deb and the party for some Craft Beer Trivia Fun!  There will be questions on brewing, beer history and local breweries as well as tasting challenges every round, to test your palate as well as your brain.  Free craft beer samples, pub snacks, and the chance to win fabulous prizes.  Everyone comes away with something!  Did we mention that happy hour prices apply all day Sunday?  So grab your friends and swing on by Beer:30 Growlers in SouthTown and show them the Corvallis Craft Beer Love!! 

#42 / 4-8PM - Killer Growler & Sandwich Night with Corn Hole Tournament @ 5th Street Growlers***

Joe, Bob and the 5th Street Growlers Crew are putting the final wraps on an awesome event!  They'll be running wide and diverse tap list paired with killer sandwich deals for dinner.  They'll be teaming up with the Corvallis Corn Hole Association for Corvallis Beer Week's first annual Corn Hole Tournament in the parking lot just south of the shop.  Final OLCC and city approval still needed but things are looking good.  5th Street has also teamed up with Mazama, Nectar Creek and 2 Towns to provide a round trip shuttle from 5th Street Growlers to the Eastgate Beer Cider and Meadfest just west of town on Hwy 34.  Shuttle begins making loops at 1PM from 5th Street Growlers.  So...grab your friends, hop on the shuttle back to downtown and hit up 5th Street Growlers for their Killer Growler & Sandwich Night and Corn Hole Tournament on Sunday, September 15th from 4-8PM.

 2 years running this has been a very popular event!  Last year's tickets sold out in 13 hours.  Once a year, Nick Arzner and the Block 15 brewers sit down and decide what ridiculously awesome brews they would like to pull out of their cellar and share with their fans.  Block does this by offering up a Beer Brunch of free range eggs, local bacon, Nebula Stout sausage, French Toast, pastries, fresh fruit and coffee.  Your ticket also includes Beer Rights to purchase 2 bottles of beer from the stash.  See...it's pretty awesome...so make sure you stay tuned.  More details to come.....

A super fun and educational way to go behind the scenes at one of America's premiere brewing and fermentation science universities!  They've been kind enough to open the doors for us again on Saturday, September 14th.  Check out their Alembic Still and learn about the start of their new distillation segment of the Fermentation Program.  Just a short walk or bike ride to the Fairgrounds for Septembeerfest, this is great way to start your Saturday afternoon!

#27 / 4-6PM - Mystery Beer Event @ Oregon Trail Brewery

Dave Wills at Oregon Trail is famous for his mystery beer events.  Last years moved to the alley behind Oregon Trail because so any people were having a blast!  The basic premise is that for only $4 you are given a sheet of paper with 10-15 beers styles or actual beers listed and then you blind sample each brew and see if you can match them all up correctly!  Very fun and crazy educational!  Head on down to Oregon Trail Brewery on Friday the 13th....spooky.... and test your beer knowledge! 

#28 / 7-8:30PM - Oregon is Beervana – What’s Brewing at OSU? @ Weigand Hall

Where: Weigand Hall, Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR

Karl Ockert, Technical Director for the Master Brewers Association of the Americas (former head brewer for Bridgeport) will be coming to talk about the scene of the craft beer industry today.  Tom Shellhammer from OSU's Food Science Department will also be in house talking about the fermentation program at OSU.  They will also be screening the documentary Beervana and hear from OSU Library Archivist Tiah Edmunson-Morton about the “Oregon Hops & Brewing Archives” (OHBA).  These are the types of events that make Corvallis such a fun and unique brewtown.  Grab your friends and head on down to Weigand Hall on Friday the 13th and get your beer education on!

Here's your chance to do some good while celebrating Corvallis Beer Week.  Ninkasi Brewing's Pints for a Cause has teamed up with Cloud & Kelly's to benefit Trout Unlimited Oregon Council.  Trout Unlimited is dedicated to conserving, protecting, and restoring Oregon's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.  The sounds of North Pacific String Band & The Crooked River Ramblers will kickoff at 10PM!  So...grab a friend and to Cloud & Kelly's Friday the 13th from 8PM-12AM and they'll donate $1 to benefit the mission of Trout Unlimited for every Ninkasi pint sold!  If you can't make it during the event they'll still donate $1 for every Ninkasi all day Friday at both Downward Dog @ Cloud & Kelly's.

Awwwww yeah Corvallis!  Playground Sports, an organizer of Dodgeball, Kickball, Bocce & Corn Hole Leagues in the Willamette Valley, will be teaming up with Ninkasi Brewing and the Corvallis Sports Park for the Turf Monster Dodge Ball Tournament!  Ninkasi will kick things off with a tasting from 6-8 and the Turf Monster Dodgeball Tournament action begins at 8:30!  So...grab your friends and your best Matrix-style dodgeball moves and head on down to the Corvallis Sports Park on Thursday the 12th!  Tournament is Co-ed and $30/team with 4 players minimum (2 from each gender).  Max 6 players on court at one time and up to 10 players on each roster.  Follow the link above for more information and we'll see you there!!!!

Suds has been rockin' awesome Thursday night promos in Corvallis since...well it seems like forever...and there's a reason!!  There tap selection is huge, the folks are very friendly and they've one hell of awesome outdoor patio...oh and did we mention rockin' pizza from Woodstocks is always available!  The Suds crew is going Super Loco Local with brews from usual suspects like Block 15, Flat Tail, Calapooia, Oregon Trail and 2 Towns Ciderhouse!! They are working on getting some of the new folks represented as well.  So...head on down to Corvallis' longest running Craft Beer promo night at Suds & Suds for their SUPER LOCO LOCAL Night and who knows...you might be rolling out with some sweet schwag!!

If you've ever been into the American Dream on Monroe, one thing that comes to mind is paper plate art!  Well, last year our friends at ADP on Monroe decided that they wanted to host Corvallis Beer Week's first art contest and the canvas...yup...paper plates.  They had such a fun time and there was such a huge outpouring of paper plate art love they wanted to bring it back for a 2nd year.  They are also currently pulling together an awesome list of Bend-brewed beers to get the creative juices flowing!  So stop by the American Dream on Monroe on Thursday the 12th with your artistic or not-so-artistic friends, either way, you'll have a blast!

The friendliest damn convenience store and gas station ever is bringing their Craft Beer Run back for an awesome 2nd year!  As always...no jogging shoes required.  Clive and the City Limits crew hosted one killer event last year and plan to step it up even more with killer beer prices we can't legally mention here.  They'll have schwag giveaways, awesome beers and friendly faces for all....so swing on by City Limits Store on Wednesday, September 11th and get your fridge stocked up!!

Corvallis..here it is.  The 2nd Annual Doubles Cribbage Tournament at the Downward Dog!  Learn the rules of a Doubles Cribbage Tournament then battle it out among 16 teams and see if you've got the mustard to take home the title.  This is a double elimination tournament this year so there's more cribbage for everyone!  There is a limit of 16 teams of two and you must have a partner, and only one registration per team!

Two years ago Seth Waddell and the downtown American Dream crew decided throw a killer IPA Tap Takeover and they are bringing it back!  10 different local and regionally brewed India Pale Ales will be on hand to quench your hophead thirst.  This event is family friendly on the roof and upfront in the dream so all you peeps with the kiddos can enjoy these brews as well!  Get your hop on and head on down to the Crowbar and downtown American Dream Pizza on Wednesday the 11th from 6:30-10PM!

Chris Churilla, a nationally renowned cocktail chemist, threw such a awesome craft brewed cocktail event the last 2 years for Corvallis Beer Week people were asking me about.  I called Chris to see if he was interested and he enthusiastically said, "Definitely!"  Details on his creations have begun to swim through his mixolgist mind but we'll keep you up-to-date with the details here.  However, plan on grabbing a friend or three...take a break from the beer...just a break...and head on down to Aqua on Wednesday, September 11th of Corvallis Beer Week 2013 and enjoy Chris Churilla's, from scratch, craft-brewed cocktails!

#7 / 3-8PM - Demonstration Brew & Kickstarter for Hopstories @ Sky High Brewing

Sky High Brewmaster, Laurence Livingston, is gonna start his brew day a little late so you can stop by and enjoy the process.  Also in the house will be Eric Buist with Hopstories.  As a professional videographer and director, Eric helped Sky High Brewing tell their story cinematically earlier this year and will be promoting his Kickstarter campaign.  Swing on through Sky High on Tuesday the 10th, enjoy a pint, savor the aromatics of a brew day and learn how other creative people are shaping the craft beer industry!

#8 / 4-8PM – Craft Canned Beer Luau @ the downtown American Dream Pizza Rooftop

Join Miranda, Molly and the rest of the American Dream Pizza rooftop crew as they host the Craft Canned Beer Luau on Tuesday the 10th!  They'll have 10-15 different Oregon-brewed craft beers in cans to showcase a growing movement in the Craft Beer industry.  They'll be slinging killer deals on Hawaiian pizza and of course you can still order cocktails and draft beer if you're interested.  However, you know you wanna crack open a cold can of Oregon-brewed craft beer, enjoy the sunshine, and laugh with friends on the American Dream Pizza rooftop!  We do too.  See you there! 

#9 / 5-9PM - Burger Slider & Beer Pairings with 7pm Pool & Shuffleboard Tourney @ McMenamins on Monroe

McMenamins on Monroe will be hosting an Open House from 5-7pm where you will be able to meet the brewer, Gary Nance, tour the brewery and sample a special beer.  At 7pm our Pool & Shuffleboard Tournament will begin as more of a duathlon.  Bring your skills for both but remember there is a 12 team limit.  Each team must have 2 people and must sign up in advance, in person or by phone.  All evening, the McMenamins crew will be serving up a Burger Slider & Beer Pairing consisting of 3 different burger sliders paired with 3 different craft beers!  So head on down to McMenamins on Monroe and grab a slider and pint and see if you can take home the Tournament Gold. 

#10 / 6-9PM - Craft Beer & Dessert Pairing @ Mazama Brewing

This is where we get to have a little fun!  We are going to march, stroll, meander and really strut, parade-style (but on the sidewalks) from Les Caves Bier & Kitchen to the CBW2013 Kickoff First Street Block Party at Flat Tail, Downward Dog and Cloud & Kelly's!  Last year we had 50+ people on the March and even a dog!  We'll cruise through downtown, taking the long route with maybe a quick pint stop along the way.  You know we'll be gettin' thirsty.  So...grab a friend or 3 and head on down to Les Caves for the 3rd Annual CBW Kickoff March on Monday, September 9th!

The Flat Tail crew stepped up big this year as the Corvallis Beer Week 2013 Host Supporter and have decided to throw one helluva party to kick it off in style!  The are opening the brewery and serving a ridiculous tapist culled from favors to Dave from some of Oregon's finest breweries.  They be giving tours of their new brewhouse and even releasing some ultra limited and special beers in waxed dipped 40's...Marliave-style!  So...grab your friends and don't miss out on Flat Tail's CBW2013 Kickoff Party!!

Just wanted to start with a huge thank you to all over our Corvallis Beer Week volunteers for taking the time out of their schedule to help promote the Corvallis Craft Beer culture.

First off, if you signed up through Signup Genius and have received email communications from us regarding volunteering we will be hosting 2 upcoming Volunteer Packet Pickups.   You'll checkin with us then grab your CBW2013 Volunteer Packet which will include handbills for promotion at your event, a CBW T-Shirt in your size, Volunteer Lanyard & Pass, Ticket for Septembeerfest and your itinerary for the event you are volunteering for.  If you can't make either of these packet pickup times please contact me at Chris@CorvallisCraftBeer.com to arrange another pickup time.

Good morning Corvallis!

It's that time of year.  The summer months have given way to what is going to be an amazing autumn here in the valley.  One of the great late summer traditions in Corvallis is almost upon us.  CORVALLIS BEER WEEK!!!!  What started as a simple idea to promote the education and celebration of Craft Beer throughout beautiful Corvallis, Oregon has grown into 44 awesome craft beer focused events in only our 3rd year!

Our sponsors are busy putting all the finishing touches on some amazing events that you will not want to miss!  So...mark those calendars, get a baby sitter, arrange for responsible transportation and head on down to Corvallis Beer Week 2013 and soak up all the excitement that is Corvallis' thriving Craft Beer culture! Let College Football season begin...and in 9 days...Corvallis Beer Week!!!!!!

Today marks the kickoff off college football season here in Corvallis!  Maybe you're not a college football fan and that's okay, more for the rest of us.  However, there's a good chance you are a craft beer fan if you're reading this and your treat is that Corvallis Beer Week 2013 is only 9 days away!

We've got a calendar, as you can see here, that is packed with all sorts of craft beer inspired events!  Everything from educational to simply celebration focused.  Everything from 21+ only events to ones where you can bring the whole family!

Dave Wills at Oregon Trail is famous for his mystery beer events.  Last years moved to the alley behind Oregon Trail because so any people were having a blast!  The basic premise is that for only $4 you are given a sheet of paper with 10-15 beers styles or actual beers listed and then you blind sample each brew and see if you can match them all up correctly!  Very fun and crazy educational!  Head on down to Oregon Trail Brewery on Friday the 13th....spooky.... and test your beer knowledge! 

#28 / 7-8:30PM - Oregon is Beervana – What’s Brewing at OSU? @ Weigand Hall

Where: Weigand Hall, Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR

Karl Ockert, Technical Director for the Master Brewers Association of the Americas (former head brewer for Bridgeport) will be coming to talk about the scene of the craft beer industry today.  Tom Shellhammer from OSU's Food Science Department will also be in house talking about the fermentation program at OSU.  These are the types of events that make Corvallis such a fun and unique brewtown.  Grab your friends and head on down to Weigand Hall on Friday the 13th and get your beer education on!

Here's your chance to do some good while celebrating Corvallis Beer Week.  Ninkasi Brewing's Pints for a Cause has teamed up with Cloud & Kelly's to benefit Trout Unlimited Oregon Council.  Trout Unlimited is dedicated to conserving, protecting, and restoring Oregon's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.  The sounds of North Pacific String Band & The Crooked River Ramblers will kickoff at 10PM!  So...grab a friend and to Cloud & Kelly's Friday the 13th from 8PM-12AM and they'll donate $1 to benefit the mission of Trout Unlimited for every Ninkasi pint sold!  If you can't make it during the event they'll still donate $1 for every Ninkasi all day Friday at both Downward Dog @ Cloud & Kelly's.

Corvallis Beer Week 2013 < 30 days!!!

Good morning Corvallis Craft Beer Fans, 

With our final poster done and going up around town this weekend we wanted to take a quick moment and thank all of our sponsors.

First off, huge shout out again to Flat Tail Brewing for picking up the Host Supporter spot this year!  They've got a killer kickoff party in the planning as well as an awesome Beer Dinner in the Brewery.  Plus they just got a new brewhouse delivered so they now have plenty of free time to enjoy the festivities.  

Another huge ups goes to Nectar Creek Honeywine, Block 15 Brewing Company and Mazama Brewing for snagging our Brewery Partner spots!  All three have some awesome event planned from beer & dessert pairings to bottle releases and cellar stash releases.

So close...we can almost taste it!

Corvallis Beer Week 2013 is right around the corner!  We are putting the finishing touches on what will be the best CBW yet.  We had planned to have tickets for our limited seat events go on sale yesterday, August 1st, but we have been slammed with getting all the details lined up for all our events.  Don't sweat it....starting on Monday, August 12th @ 10AM will begin selling tickets for our limited seat events.  Plan accordingly and stay tuned for more details!  Now get out there and enjoy the weekend with a cold craft beer in hand! 

 

Craft Beer Picnic this Saturday!!!!

Mid-Valley brewers celebrate Oregon Craft Beer Month

To celebrate Oregon Craft Beer Month, on Saturday, July 27th brewers from the Corvallis and Albany area will be hosting a community picnic at Afton Field Farm in Corvallis, Oregon. The event will take place from 12-9pm with each participating brewery pouring unique products. There will also be a picnic-style buffet, live music, lawn games, farm tours, and a pig roast.

16 different local craft beverages will be pouring from host brewery Block 15 Restaurant & Brewery joined by 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Calapooia Brewing, Flat Tail Brewing, Mazama Brewing, McMenamins on Monroe, Nectar Creek Honeywine, Oregon Trail Brewery, and Sky High Brewing!

Buffet style BBQ including Afton Farms whole roast hog, Afton Farms free range chicken, potato salad, baked beans, watermelon, potato chips, cornbread, & cookies.

Dunk a brewer charity dunk tank, 9 hole disc golf course, a children’s area, corn hole, and other lawn games. Families are welcome all day!

5-8:30 Bill Rhodes & The Party Kings featuring Henry Cooper

Parking on site will be available whether traveling by car or bike by car and bike parking will be available on site. There will also be a shuttle bus looping through downtown Corvallis from 2-9pm. Stops include Block 15, Sky High Brewing, and McMenamins on Monroe every 20-30 minutes!

$5, includes live music, shuttle bus, raffle, and games.

All products used on site will be compostable. Lawn chairs and blankets encouraged. The picnic will take place under the oaks at the scenic Afton Field Farm, located at 3375 SW 53rd Street in Corvallis.
